Notary Public FAQs

What is a Notary Public? A notary public is an individual designated by the state to fulfill a vital role as an impartial witness. Their primary objective is to prevent fraudulent activities and guarantee the authenticity of legal documents.

What do I need to get a document notarized? 1. A valid, unexpired state or federal ID. Virginia accepts the following identification: U.S. passport book or card, state drivers license or identification card, U.S. permanent resident card with photograph, U.S. certificate of naturalization, an unexpired foreign passport, or U.S. military ID. 2. The original unsigned, undated document with all required fields completed. 3. If the document requires it, one or two disinterested witnesses to the signing of your document.

What documents cannot be notarized? In the commonwealth of Virginia, a notary public may not certify a true copy of birth, death or marriage certificates, or court issued documents.

I need a document notarized. Where are you located? I’m based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, but as a virtual notary, I can assist you no matter where you’re located. All notarizations are completed securely online—so you can meet with me from your home, office, or anywhere with a reliable internet connection. I cannot meet you in person. How can I get my document notarized? No problem at all! I offer secure virtual notarization sessions, allowing us to meet online and complete your notarization from anywhere. All you need is a device with a camera, a valid ID, and a strong internet connection.
